UCLA has been a leader in TMS treatment since the founding of our program 10 years ago. Our team of faculty experts, led by Andrew Leuchter, MD, are board-certified psychiatrists with specialized training in TMS as well as mood, anxiety, and other disorders occurring from childhood through late life. As part of the Semel Institute, we are pioneers in research on TMS and other forms of neuromodulation, ensuring that patients receive the latest and most advanced treatment available.

Clinical Staff

Jola Leskinen

Jola Leskinen Clinical Operations Manager

Jola received her Bachelor of Science degree from Kennesaw State University, where she majored in Exercise Physiology. She has previously worked in orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery, where she first developed an interest in the biological processes underlying mood disorders. In her free time, Jola enjoys traveling and gardening, as well as aerial silks, trapeze and lyra.

Kristine Reina

Kristine Reina, ASW Lead Care Manager

Kristine received her Master of Science from Columbia University School of Social Work and is currently working toward Licensure for clinical practice in California. Through practice and advocacy, she hopes to both improve the accessibility of mental health treatment and reduce the stigma associated with seeking mental health treatment. In her free time, she enjoys the beach and spending time with family.

Sam is pursuing her education in health administration and is passionate about the mental health field. She loves helping patients and building positive connections with them. Outside of work, she enjoys hanging out with her 3 German Shepherds and 2 cats.

Rogine attended California State University, Los Angeles, where she received her B.A. in Psychology. She has always had an interest in mental health care and a passion for helping others. Rogine enjoys traveling and spending time with her friends and family.

Diana received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Northridge. She is genuinely passionate about making a positive impact in people’s lives by offering support. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with family and friends.

Josh graduated from UC Santa Cruz where he got his Bachelor’s in Human Biology. After working as an EMT for 2 and a half years, he joined the clinic to continue helping patients and advocating for mental health. In his free time, Josh enjoys, cooking, hiking, and camping.

Sabah Fathi

Sabah Fathi TMS Technician

Sabah graduated from UCLA in 2022 with her bachelor’s in psychology. She wants to help those in her community battling with mental health. TMS is also unique as it allows for a closer patient bond, since treatment is nearly every day for about 6 to 8 weeks. In addition, she enjoys applying the things she learned in undergrad to a clinical setting. For fun, she likes to go to SoulCycle and paint with acrylic paint.

Abby Guzman

Abigail Guzman TMS Technician

Abby is pursuing her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from California State University, Fullerton. During a volunteer program at a mental health hotline, she developed an interest in the various approaches to depression treatment. She later interned at a private practice to learn more about psychotherapy and has since joined the UCLA TMS clinic to continue on this journey. As a TMS technician, she delivers TMS therapy and helps others gain a better understanding of its effectiveness in treating treatment-resistant depression. In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach, trying new restaurants, and traveling with her family & friends.

Hope Hawkins

Hope Hawkins TMS Technician

Hope Hawkins received her BA in psychology from UC Berkeley. During her undergrad, she specialized in child development by studying memory in preschoolers and providing play therapy to kids on the spectrum. Since joining UCLA’s TMS clinic, she enjoys collaborating with doctors and researchers to advocate for mental health and create a positive change in the lives of patients. In her free time, she enjoys creative writing, gardening, and film.

Victoria is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in social work and has extensive experience working in the healthcare field. UCLA TMS has been a great opportunity for her to help with patients who struggle with mental health and providing a positive impact on their lives. Outside of work, she loves to dance, going to church, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Kent Snyder

Kent Snyder TMS Technician

Kent received his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Synthesis from UCSD. He was initially drawn to TMS because of its potential to improve the quality of life for people who may not respond well to conventional treatments. He feels that It is extremely rewarding to be a part of a team that is dedicated to finding novel treatments that can improve mental health outcomes. Kent enjoys cooking, walking his dog Ruby, listening to audiobooks, and climbing.

Doan Ngo

Doan Ngo Research Manager

Doan attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Neuroscience. During her undergraduate years, her interests were neuroanatomy and neurophysiology. Prior to joining the Neuromodulation division, she worked as a behavioral therapist for children and adolescents with autism, as well as adults with developmental disabilities. There, she discovered her passion in helping people realize their potential. She is drawn to psychiatry, especially neuromodulation, because of her interest in neuroscience and her drive to help others cope with mental illnesses. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with friends and family.

Juliana Corlier

Juliana Corlier, PhD Project Scientist

Dr. Corlier is an Assistant Project Scientist at the UCLA Neuromodulation Division. She is interested in the mechanisms of action or rTMS, the effects on brain network function induced through successful treatment for Major Depressive Disorder and the development of electroencephalographic (EEG) biomarkers for clinical outcome prediction. Dr. Corlier applies advanced quantitative methods to clinical and multimodal imaging data such as machine learning, graph theory and other modern statistical approaches. Her current projects include the individualization of rTMS treatment, development of novel stimulation strategies for comorbid depression and pain. Her other interests include the use of closed-loop, real-time rTMS and the investigation of other neuromodulation modalities such as transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) or deep brain stimulation (DBS).

Cole Citrenbaum

Cole Citrenbaum Programmer/Analyst

Cole received his Bachelor of Science in Physics from Yale University in 2017. He is interested in applying quantitative, data-driven techniques to problems in Psychiatry. Prior to joining the UCLA TMS team, Cole split his time doing research in Astrophysics and writing songs for pop artists. In his free time, Cole loves to play tennis and relax with his orange kitten named Ginny.

Nathan Mills

Nathan Mills Programmer/Analyst

Nathan received his Bachelor of Arts in teaching with a cognate of computer science. He focuses on developing, maintaining, and upgrading systems and solutions for the hardware and software at the clinic. Prior to his work at UCLA Health, Nathan was a computer science teacher for primary school and high school, and later a sys admin for a DOD contractor. In his free time, he likes to spend time with his family in Hawaii or go out for a bowl of ramen and drinks.

Thomas Valles

Thomas Valles Programmer/Analyst

Thomas received his Master of Arts in Applied Mathematics from UCSD his Bachelor of Science in applied math from UCLA. He is passionate about helping others and hopes to use his background in mathematics and computing to improve the quality of life of those struggling with mental health. In the lab, Thomas uses data to optimize TMS treatment parameters and gain a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms that make TMS effective. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, practicing piano, and speed solving Rubik’s Cubes.

Cole Matthews

Cole Matthews Research Technician

Cole received his B.A. in Psychology from UCLA. Before working at the TMS Clinic, he worked as a behavior interventionist for kids with autism and was an undergraduate research assistant with the Social Cognitive Neuroscience Lab at UCLA. He really enjoys contributing to research that investigates the different ways that TMS can be used to treat depression and a variety of other conditions.
Outside of research, he enjoys gardening and cooking.

Hrag Peltekian

Hrag Peltekian Research Technician

Hrag earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Cognitive Science from UC Davis, where he served as the assistant lab manager of the Laboratory for Basic and Translational Cognitive Neuroscience. There, he contributed to research focusing on neural and cognitive mechanisms in healthy individuals and exploring cognitive dysfunction with conditions such as schizophrenia. He joined the TMS clinic to help actively treat patients’ mental health while working to improve treatments and make them more accessible. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, hiking with his dog, and playing and writing piano music.

Ghada received her Bachelor of Science in Public Health from California State University, Northridge. Prior to joining UCLA, she worked in both hospitality and sustainability, and volunteered at different institutions for children with disabilities. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, outdoor activities, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Lydia received her bachelor of science degree in Mathematics at UCLA and her MBA at Arizona State University. She seeks to perfect the optimization of business operations with an emphasis on healthcare administration and prioritizing patient needs.

Sue Ellen Zhang Administrative Assistant / Outreach Coordinator

Sue Ellen studied Linguistics and Psychology at UCLA. She started working with UCLA TMS as a student and has found herself in admin and outreach. Using design and marketing, she works to increase awareness of neuromodulation treatments to physicians and the community. Sue Ellen is also an artist and uses her knowledge in the psychiatric field to inspire her work. In her spare time, she loves to hike, dance, and explore new places.
